Camille is nine years old. On his birthday, he amuses his mother, father, and uncle with a simple question: "And you, Mother, where were you when I was born?" Things get worse when he tells her that he won’t call her "mama" anymore but instead he’ll use her first name. Then, a bit later, he candidly offers to introduce her to his “real” mother. In this film as intriguing as it is elegant, Raoul Ruiz plays mischievously, humorously, and skillfully with dreams and genres. He brings together a dream cast – the duo Isabelle Huppert and Jeanne Balibar opposite Charles Berling – in a bewitching game of hide and seek. Official Selection, Venice Film Festival, 2000
