A sexually frustrated young woman consults a psychiatrist to gain assurance. After her appointment, she meets a stranger and spends the night with him. When she returns to his place to retrieve a ring that she left, she is brutally murdered by a mysterious blonde woman. Highly sexual, Dressed to Kill is one of the first films to deal with the representation of transgender. The murder scene is on a par with the Psycho shower scene, and the haunting ghost of Kim Novak makes this movie a genuine homage to Hitchcock’s craft. The distillation of Brian De Palma’s expertise.
