Stéphane breaks up with the pregnant Natalia, whereas Sabine, a young stage decorator, lives with the failure of her passionate relationship with an actor who abruptly rejected her. So Sabine and Stéphane try to live the fragile love story that draws them towards each other. A veritable contemporary tragedy, Assayas’s second film exposes the feelings of protagonists who live their passion, between proximity and distance, embrace and separation. While studying the protagonists' issues of emotion and identity, he captures all the intensity of the confusing sentiments that the difficult transition to adulthood implies, full of pain and regrets.
