In 1972, Gilles and Christine are teenagers living aimlessly in the Parisian suburbs. One day they decide to take to the road and head south, sleeping in squats or on the street, but most importantly, living their lives. Just like Wild Reeds, Cold Water was part of ARTE's series Tous les garçons et les filles de leur âge. Considered by Assayas as his “second first film”, this wonderful depiction of youth, made of speed and vitality, appears to be very personal. Occupying a prime position in his work, the music beautifully embodies the spirit of an era and subtly expresses the feelings of a generation without bearings, left to their own restiveness.
