Jerzy Skolimomski, also a painter, is one of the greatest Polish filmmakers of his time. In the 60s, he actively took part in the revival of cinema in Eastern Europe in the French New Wave’s wake. He writes the screenplay of Roman Polanski’s first feature film, Le Couteau dans l’eau and directs Signe particulier: néant, Walkover and La Barrière. His filmography, condensed but essential, coherent but fragmented, all presents masterpieces praised all other the world, from Moonlighting to Deep End to Le Départ and Quatre Nuits avec Anna. Presented for the first time in France, this complete retrospective will be completed by 3 films in which Jerzy Skolimowski was actor (Le Faussaire by Volker Schlöndorff, Avant la nuit by Julian Schnabel and Les Promesses de l’ombre by David Cronenberg) as well as a new documentary about Deep End called Starting Out, directed by Robert Fisher.
