MICHEL OCELOT
Studio des Ursulines (5th), Gaumont Champs-Élysées Marignan (8th)
In attendance
At the occasion of the release of his fifth feature-length film, Paris Cinema IFF wishes to pay tribute to Michel Ocelot, extraordinary story-teller, artist in a class of his own in the animation universe. If Kirikou et la sorcière uses the classical technique of cartoon, Azur et Asmar applies computer generated images while Princes et princesses is directed from silhouettes and sets cut on black paper and directly animated under the camera according to the principle of shadow puppets. Finally, the director explores 3D with his latest film, Tales of the Night which will be premiered at the festival. Triumph of the mind, praise of marginality, his epics, where shine humor, sensibility and intelligence, continually reinvent childhood’s magic.
