Key figure of Mexican cinema, now an international star, Gael García Bernal makes his debuts in Mexican television at the age of 9 in the TV show Teresa. Later on, he goes to London to attend Central School of Speech and Drama. Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu’s Amores Perros reveals himself to the general audience in 2000. Roles very quickly follow on as his on-screen charisma and acting accuracy are obvious. He makes the event in 2004 at Cannes Film Festival, appearing in two films seleckted in the Official Competition: taking on the part of Che in Walter Salles’ Motorcycle Diaries, and as a manipulative transvestite in Pedro Almodovar’s Bad education. Gael García Bernal is also directing (Deficit, his first featurelength in 2007), producing through the company he founded with Diego Luna, Canana, and co-founder of the documentaries’ festival Ambulante.
