Guest of Filipino Fever Night

A true kung-fu panther, Marrie Lee (née Doris Young) was the female and divine counterpart of 70s macho heroes. Unforgettable as Cleopatra Wong, she was the inspiration for Uma Thurman’s character in Tarantino’s Kill Bill. The Festival will give tribute to the great Filipino action flick icon, in her presence, by screening Machetee Maidens Unleashed by Mark Hartley and They Call Her… Cleopatra Wong by Bobby A. Suarez.

Pete Tombs, the outstanding video editor at the head of Mondo Macabro and also the author of two books about B movies and underground cinema, will also be in attendance.

Filipino Fever Night is Saturday, July 2 at Forum des Images, starting at 8:30 pm.
