Paris Cinema International Film Festival
Supported by the City of Paris and chaired by Charlotte Rampling, the 8th edition of the Paris Cinema International Film Festival will take place from July 3 to 13.
A rich and punchy program
With events taking place in fifteen different venues throughout the capital (both in and out of movie theatres), the Paris Cinema IFF features an ambitious and eclectic line-up, presented by numerous international guests:
International Competition: The festival offers an overview of Contemporary Cinema through an International Competition of some 12 features films (features and documentaries). These films from all over the world will compete for the Audience Awards, the Students Award and the Jury Award. Directors and film crews will be attending the festival.
Premieres: A selection of 40 French Premieres to discover the next season's hits or to enjoy once again some famous classical films released on new prints.
Guests of honour: Through focuses and tributes, film personalities from all over the world are honoured every year: David Cronenberg, Jackie Chan, Michael Cimino, Jeanne Moreau, Isabelle Huppert, Aki Kaurismäki, Oliver Stone, Stanley Kwan, Tim Roth, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Ettore Scola, Ronit Elkabetz, Brillante Mendoza, Naomi Kawase, Claudia Cardinale...
Country of honour: After Brazil, Korea, Lebanon, Philippines and Turkey, the 2010 edition will celebrate Japanese contemporary cinema with a special panorama of more than 40 films (shorts, documentaries and features), a retrospective of Kurosawa Akira for his 100th birthday and a tribute to Koji Wakamatsu...
Special events: Paris Cinema IFF will continue to offer original events to enjoy cinema in various ways: outdoor screenings, cine-concerts, a bric-a-brac flee market for movie-goers, exhibitions...
Paris Project (for professionals only):
From July 5 to 7, meetings and workshops to gather directors, producers and key professional players in the film industry from all over the world.
During three days, the Paris Cinema IFF's co-production and development platform aims at encouraging French and European professionals to get involved on international projects in development and films in post-production from all over the world in order to promote financial arrangements, co-productions and networking with potential French partners.
