ARTICLE 1. DATES
The 10th edition of the Rencontres Internationales, organised by Paris Cinéma, will be held in Paris, at the Forum des images, from July 1 - 11, 2004.

ARTICLE 2. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The feature films (foreign or French) and the short films (foreign or French) must fulfil the following requirements to be submitted:
- Format : 35mm, 16mm, Video
- Type : fiction or documentary
- Other : Neither having been released commercially in France, nor broadcast in France in any form (Hertzian channels, cable, satellite).


ARTICLE 3. PRESELECTION
The films screened during the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris are selected under the responsibility of the Artistic Director of Paris Cinéma.

ARTICLE 4. PRESELECTION
The closing date for submission (namely the deadline for the office of the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris to receive the completed and signed entry form) is set on April 30, 2004. A documentation, a short synopsis and photos of the film may be attached to the entry form.The prints, tapes (VHS - Pal, Secam, NTSC - or Betacam SP ) or DVD of the films submitted for pre-selection must reach Paris before April 30, 2004 (for short films: all audiovisual aids but no prints). For pre-selection, French subtitling is not required if the film is in English or with English subtitles.

ARTICLE 5. VHS, BETA, DVD
The videotape or DVD must be sent directly to the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris office at :
Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris / Paris Cinéma, Porte Saint-Eustache, 75001 Paris, France, with the mention “For cultural use only”.
If the tape or DVD is sent through an express delivery service, the costs of custom duties and taxes in France must be paid by the sender (this has to be imperatively mentioned when completing the forms).
Any tape or DVD sent to the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris office for pre-selection will be returned to the sender only upon written request reaching this office by September 30, 2004. After that date, any materials sent for pre-selection will be destroyed.

ARTICLE 6. SELECTED FILMS
In order to appear in the catalogue, the requested material on each selected film must be sent to the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris office by May 14, 2004. A VHS of the subtitled film as well as a list of subtitles and TV excerpts (Betacam) must be delivered before the Festival. The TV excerpts are used by TV channels during the Festival, and later only if authorized by the producer.

ARTICLE 7. PROMOTION
Concerning the promotion of a selection of films and/or of each selected film, the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris and the Paris Cinéma websites may use, with no time limit, any photo or digital film excerpt less than 3 min in duration. The press services of the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris and Paris Cinéma will also be free to use pictures of the selected films for the promotion of the event on any press support.

ARTICLE 8. AWARDS
Any feature film (documentaries included) selected by the Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris is eligible for the Audience Award (15 000 euros awarded to the eventual distributor of the winning film for a theatrical release in France with a signed mandate before July 11, 2005) , the Student Award and the Arte / Paris Cinéma Award. Only the first and second films screened at Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris are eligible for the Press Award.

ARTICLE 9. RESPONSABILITIES FOR THE ORGANIZERS
The Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris and Paris Cinéma reserve the right to use the information collected on the submission forms according to modalities of law 78.17 of January 6, 1978, in accordance with the Data-processing and Freedoms law, each participant has the right of access and correction concerning the personal data relating to the submission form.
The Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris and Paris Cinéma decline any responsibility in the event of damaged delivery or the non-delivery for the submission files transmitted by any means of transportation and for any reason.
The Board of directors of the Forum des images and of Paris Cinéma have the capacity to settle all cases not provided for in the present regulations. It has the right to interrupt, to remove, or defer the event or to modify the regulations at any moment, according to the requirements of its exploitation. No compensation of any kind will be granted to the participants in this case.
Participation in Rencontres internationales de cinéma à Paris, an event of the festival Paris Cinéma, implies acceptance of aforementioned regulations.
